Escorted tours/Group Tours
These tours offer the safety and companionship of travelling in a group, but the flexibility to go off and explore on your own. Some groups are specifically designed for singles travel. For instance, Globus offers has a single share guarantee - they will find a roommate for you so you don't have to pay a single supplement.
Avalon waives the single supplement on some cruises. Norwegian Cruise Lines offers reduced single supplements on some sailings (150% v. 200% of base fare). The NCL Epic revolutionized singles travel by introducing the singles studio concept. The Epic has singles cabins located around a special lounge for just the guests in those cabins.
As a travel agent, I have special access to information on which cruises have a reduced single supplement and which group tours are the best fit for single travellers so be sure to contact me for your next trip.

I want to explore a different part of the world, but I am not sure how to do it? Should I book a tour? Do it on my own? What do you think?
Travelling international is a great adventure. Today's traveller has a lot of options and ways to experience the world. Two of the main options are an escorted tour or just booking hotel/transportation.
An escorted tour generally includes airfare, hotels, tours and a dedicated guide to help get you from one location to another and offer insight into the local culture. These tours tend to be a strict timetable and your trip includes 10 - 50 other travellers.
Some things to consider when booking international travel:
Language - A tour guide can help you navigate a new city with an unfamiliar language. You can secure a tour guide as part of an escorted tour or many message boards on travel sites offer recommendations on local freelance tour guides.

Here was my response:
Are you brand loyal – meaning you will only rent at one company? If so, it may be a little harder to find deals. Price the competition using www.kayak.com. Then call the manager of the location where you usually rent and ask them to match the rate. Non-airport locations may be more likely to do this.
Kayak.com is a search engine that pulls together all the online prices from the company’s website. It will also pull prices from travel consolidators like Travelocity or Expedia if you click those boxes. This provides a good overview of the going rate at any given point in time.
