There's an App for That: Walt Disney World

Several applications that you can download to your smart phone can enhance your Disney Experience:

My Disney Experience - This is a new App from Disney available for Apple products and Android. It will be linked to the new MyMagic bands that will eventually replace those paper tickets and allow you to pre-reserve Fast Passes. I spent some time on it over the weekend.  I like that you can store all your reservations and "plan" your day including parades and dining reservations. I also find it less clunky than the Disney websites. However, it still has some glitches. I had to uninstall and install 3 times to get it to work properly. I suspect over time it will become more reliable. This App can replace most of the Apps below and it is free.

Why would I use a travel agent?

Someone asked me this week why anyone would use a travel agent when all the information is available on the web. I started to talk about how all the information isn't on the web, I have access to special databases, etc. But then I realized what they were really asking was what value I brought to the conversation.

The best analogy I can think for the reason to use a travel agent is a real estate agent. Most MLS bookings are available online. You can search state or county databases to get comparables or appraisal information. You can buy or sell a house all by yourself.

Yet, when thinking about buying or selling a house, the vast majority of people contact a realtor because they have specialized training, a knowledge of the market, and will be your advocate in the process. In the same way, travel agents have the training and the knowledge to be your advocate in the travel planning process. This month, I have lowered cruise fares, secured VIP status for client's romantic getaway, matched a family with a great location for their summer family trip, secured $100 in future credits for a client who had a major flight delay and helped a large family reach consensus on their Disney vacation. Even better, you don't pay more to use my services. Travel can be a major investment and many people just want someone on their side.

Trips with Angie Tips for Magic Kingdom

Quick Service Meal for Two: Cosmic Rays Starlight Care in Tomorrowland has a large rib and chicken combo platter.

Characters: When you enter Magic Kindom, all the way to the right is a building that hosts a Princess Greeting and a traditional character greeting line during busy times. They both list how long the wait is and sometimes you can get a fastpass. If you are facing the building, the fast pass stations are to the left. The Circus area of the new Fantasy Land also has an area to meet the classic characters.
