Cancun Excursions for Kids under 10 Years Old

 



Cancun is known for its beautiful beaches and near perfect weather. The area also offers lots of family-friendly activities, here are some of the best options for family fun with children under age 10. 


Located in the Hotel Zone is Aquabounce, an inflatable obstacle course located on the water. Guests navigate through slippery stairs, wobbly platforms, giant slides, trampolines and moving platforms. Minimum height is 3’2”, life jackets are obligatory. 

Mexico’s Xcaret Park in Playa Del Carmen offers more than 40 attractions and activities for all ages to explore. There are beaches, natural pools, cenotes, underground rivers, jungle trails, and cultural presentations. Activities perfect for ages 12 and under include Children’s World, an area with water slides, tunnels, hanging bridges, climbing nets, and obstacles just for them! There is also a separate area for under age six which has a wading pool, sandbox and water jets. Other kid-friendly areas include the Butterfly Pavillon, Aviary, Coral Reef Aquarium, Sea Turtles, and Jaguar Island.  Some activities such as swimming with dolphins, snorkeling and the interactive shark adventure do have an additional fees. Children 4 and under are free.

The Paradise Subsee Explorer is a cross between a yellow submarine and a glass bottom boat. Before boarding the Subsee guests are taken on a fast boat out to the Punta Nizac Reef, once there guests board the sub and then enjoy a narrated, air conditioned tour of the reef teeming with fish, turtles, and coral. No minimum age.

Sea Turtle Watch in Playa Del Carmen lets visitors witness up close the turtles making their nests, delivering the eggs and returning to the sea. Visitors may also be lucky enough to observe turtle eggs hatch and watch baby turtles make their way to the ocean. Ages 3 and under are free.

A great adventure for ages 6 and up is the Jungle Maya Native Park. The park offers zip lines, rappelling and snorkeling in a cave. Visitors also have the opportunity to participate in an authentic Mayan Ceremony and enjoy a traditional meal from the region. 

This Dolphin Encounter in Isla Mujeres is designed for all ages and allows for visitors to learn about, kiss, hug, and interact with these beautiful creatures. Minimum Age is 1, ages 5 and under are free.

A wonderful family evening tour is Xoximilco Park which offers guests the opportunity to experience the traditions, cultures and folklore of one of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in Mexico. The evening starts with Carnival-type games, and continues with gondola rides through festive canals, traditional live music, and a delicious dinner of distinctly Mexican cuisine. Ages 4 and under are free.
