Family Friendly Excursions in Victoria, B.C.

Victoria is a frequent stop on Alaska cruises that depart round trip from Seattle. The stop can be in the evening, but if you happen to have a lot of time in port, check out these family friendly excursions. 





All Ages

Butchart’s Gardens and City Tour- Board a bus at the pier and travel approximately 30 minutes through Victoria on your way to Butchart Gardens, a world famous National Historic Site of Canada. Take in Victoria's Chinatown, Marine Drive and Olde Towne during a scenic drive fully narrated by your driver-guide. Once at Butchart Gardens, enjoy approximately 2 hours of self-guided touring.

Ocean Wildlife & Orca Exploration- Victoria is the gateway to Puget Sound, the Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands and is home to three resident pods of Orca Whales. The “J”, “K”, and “L” pods with approximately 90 whales in total, live in these waters, as well as a variety of other marine life. You’ll have an opportunity to view Porpoise, Pacific Dolphins, Sea Otters, Stellar and California Sea Lions and more. This tour is designed to take you as up close and personal to the whales and marine life as possible, as they explore their natural feeding grounds along the shores of British Columbia’s rugged coastline. Creatures of the Air & Sea- Enjoy an approximately one-hour  tour of the Victoria Butterfly Gardens. Then hop on your bus and head to Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre for a roughly 20 minute ride. Once there, stay dry while you visit the bottom of the surrounding Salish Sea to discover the creatures that live below in the oceans. Get up close to one of the touch pools, explore microscopic sea life or tour the Galley of the Drifters.

Zipline Adventure Tour- Experience an exhilarating ride of up to 40 mph as you soar up to 150 feet off the ground on eight scenic ziplines ranging from 150 feet to an unforgettable 1000 feet. Victoria by Bike- Victoria is known as the cycling capital of Canada and offers great cycling routes throughout the city. At Ogden Point you’ll be provided with a suitable bicycle, safety gear, and safety procedures to follow. Your guide will highlight numerous points of interest on your ride and answer any questions that you may have. Stops will be made at Fisherman’s Wharf, the downtown shopping district and Chinatown. On your return, you’ll pass the majestic Parliament Buildings, The Empress Hotel and the Royal British Columbia Museum. You may ride back to the pier with your guide or enjoy more time here and return to the ship on your own.
